Soceity in Peril?
By: Zuri Petteri
And welcome to edition two of Zuri’s Zeal! The topic this time, as per usual, will be whatever the hell I feel like ranting about. These topics, however, might include the following; War, yappy mouthed noobs, idiots(which are always invariably included), blood points, hunters, coinage, and well...that’s probably enough for one go, wouldn’t you all say?
First, lets discuss and follow up on the concept of cowardice in the city. Vandeese doted on it a bit in her editorial, but I have a bit more to say. As stated in my previous article, there are certain nameless vampires here in the city that use their family to hide behind whilst their mouths spew forth literary diharrea in every media source available in the city. These are the people who enjoy saying that, “I can’t be in a war, I can’t! I don’t have enough time to be in a war!” Now, many of you are probably thinking that I’ve done this, and albeit slightly true, there are certain circumstances in which the “I can’t be in a war” excuse are very very valid. However, when one finds the time to be in the chats all day, on every paper, monitoring the comments so they can find a place to (Insert annoying comment here); things change. These are the people who value their blood above all else, and have probably never, ever been zeroed.
That is something of note in society. The seasoned warriors who have lost their blood at least on one occasion, are not as easy to bother with the concept of zeroing. They see it as a challenge, as a fight, whereas those who’ve never felt the burn of Holy Water upon their skin whine and sob like small human children when there is even a threat of an attack. This is pathetic. Although I do not condone black blooding, it is a very viable option for those who value their blood too much to actually fight. Sure, it may be expensive, and it may lower you in the eyes of your peers and in society as a whole, but if you have the undying and insatiable desire to run your mouth off, you’d better save your pennies because eventually your family isn’t going to back you up. Now then, there is one variable that needs addressing in this situation.
As of late, as per usual during the summer months, there has been a massive influx of new beings in the city who hang out in the taverns, the social clubs, and in all general gatherings where we converse and simply flood the places with stupid, illogical, nonsensical remarks. I.E.* GaaraOfTheSand turns into a raccoon and nibbles on his crackers like Meeko*. Now, I have no idea what the hell a “meeko” is, but I’m sure it has a very loose connection to the world of Anime simply because of its japanese sounding name. These are the people who forge little gangs and walk around the taverns, trying to act like this big tough family. It’s adorable, really. All of this, “Don’t touch her or I’ll keel you wit my amazering katanaz!!!”, and “OH NOES, I HATES MEN!!!”. Yet, when one of the “elders” of the city, who, in my opinion make these comments out of sheer boredom and lack of other things to do, makes a comment, it instantly becomes, “Oh yeaahhh? Well....*ninjas outside and keels you wit my katana*”, and when the “elder” gets bored or frustrated enough to go burn it once or twice to teach it a “shut your mouth” type lesson, said n00bling has zero pints. The stereotypical answer to this is, “OMG I DON”T PLAY THE GAME! I ONLY USE THIS SITE TO CHAT!!!!”, how pathetic is this? These idiots allow their human counterparts to overwhelm them, cross OOC, and call our fair home a site for chatting. Pathetic.
Not all of the younglings in this city are without hope, however. There are a few who have enough potential to give me hope in the wellbeing of this place when I am long gone, dead and buried. I won’t name names, because I can’t. But I am sure there are at least one or two new people here who’ve come to learn and develop their powers, blood, and tact in dealing with others of our kind. Which leads me to yet another paradime shift in the discussion here. What the fuck is with all of the hybrid bullshit in this city. There are these people who claim to be werewolf/vampire/rabbit/skanky whore/angel/(insert gothic theme here) hybrids. Excuse me, no. This is RavenBlack City, a den of vampires and vampires exclusively. There is no place here for those who claim to be all of the things they’ve read in the modernized vampiric stories of werewolves and angels. Ugh.
Finally, on a completely different note but a note all the same. Childer are not children. I first saw this topic on the BCIN, and although I didn’t read it, I did think about it. It is true. There is no such thing as a child here, this isn’t some Anne Rice manifestation of God. Vampires, although quite capable of having sex, are unable to procreate, and thus, there are no children. The bond between a Childe and a Sire is almost like a parent to a child, the sire mentors the childe, teaches them, and helps them to grow into productive members of our society much like a human parent and child. However, the point remains that these relationships are plutonic and purely symbolic. There. A little food for thought.
And that’s it for me. This is Zuri Petteri, signing off!
