Show your mom GWAR. She won't think Adam Lambert is that much of a scoundrel. *missed the Gwar show on Thursday. Is sad.*

Did you not read anything in this thread? It's... some dude. Some gay dude that sings. You probably couldn't tell I was being sarcastic Well, in truth I really had no idea who the dude was when this thread was started. But I googled. So much for fame. And to expand on that point that I want to make: it's likely his fame that caused what he apparently did to become such an outrage. That is to say: he doesn't have enough fame. He isn't of the caliber of Britney or Madonna or Placebo (they've snogged on stage, and other things) or the other artists mentioned. So it's likely breaking a social norm to act that way when your status in the music world is still somewhat precarious, new. That's why people are likely upset at him because of kissing dudes on stage. It's not socially acceptable for someone in his position. If he were a superstar, I doubt people would mind as much. As it is, he just looks like he's getting above himself, and it pisses people off that he'd think he could get away with it. In short: it's not a matter of fairness, it's an issue of social norms. ....I like Placebo

Link to it instead of posting it and put a NSFW warning on it just in case.

I love Placebo But I needed an example of men kissing on stage, and couldn't think of any others (besides the other examples that had been given earlier in the thread).

One question though. What channel was the AMA's being broadcasted from?
And that is why he's banned from the Grammies and such. He would have gotten away with it on MTV during any of their award shows.
It has nothing to do with the fact he's gay. He did something lewd that shouldn't have been down during an event such as that. You're comparing it to Brittany and Madonna incident. Hello. Where was that done? On MTV. Not on the channel that hosts the Grammies and such. Children were watching that award show. You're crying,"OH IT"S UNFAIR! THEY'RE PREJUDICE BECAUSE HE'S GAY! BLAH BLAH BLAH!" It has -nothing- to do with him being gay. He did a type of performance that was inappropriate for that broadcasting channel. And now he's paying the price for it.
It's a shame you're so quick to throw it's because he' s gay instead of thinking it through.
Remember the Janet and JT incident on the superbowl? Guess what. She's not even allowed to perform at a superbowl anymore because of it.
It's the price you gotta pay some times.

First of all, Sirena, I absolutely -love- the way you put things some times. I was laughing so hard I was almost crying.
Anywho...
Dee, I completely agree with you.
Everyone is quick to hop on the 'it's because he/she is (insert sexuality, race, religion here)' bandwagon instead of thinking about all the surrounding circumstances. Who cares that he's gay? Who cares that he performed 'lewd sex acts' on stage? No one really does in general, but when you add in children, who were present, and a relatively conservative channel, then you've got an issue. They have an image to uphold and his performance didn't uphold that image. That doesn’t mean the people who made the call to cancel his GMA performance were against him as a person or a performer or that they even agreed with the decision personally, but they had a call to make based on the image of the channel they work for. You don't hear them saying that it was a bad performance do you? No. They're saying it was inappropriate and it was.

I understand why you're angry that Adam got banned for...well, what he did on stage. Kanye didn't get banned from the VMAs for badmouthing Taylor Swift (Not that I'm aware of) and Lady Gaga didn't get kicked off for her, um...sexual perfomance of Paparazzi. Then again, as Dee pointed out those acts were both on MTV, where celebrities pretty much don't get in trouble for those things. I will not, however, agree that what channel Adam was on was entirely the cause for his getting in trouble. I might not be a good source because I didn't watch the AMAs and for that reason didn't know about this until stumbling upon this thread, and because I didn't watch the AMAs I didn't have the joys of seeing how sexual his display was. Though, let's not leave out Lady Gaga (Who creeps me out very much, by the way) wore an outfit that apparently made it seem she had a penis and humped a burning piano in her performance. Again, I heard this all from someone and didn't see it myself, but if both pieces of information are true, is it really that much different from what Adam did? I honestly think there's more to it than him getting banned because of what channel he was on, since Lady Gaga and him were on the same channel and she didn't get in trouble whatsoever (Unless I'm wrong). I just felt like pointing that out.

Does anyone else get the feeling that this is a moot point that's being discussed?

True, but within the AMA's you had Rhianna bound to that wheelie thing, Eminem swearing all over the damn place, and have a dozen grindings or lewd sexual acts. Hell, even wassherface...damit what's her....OH Carrie Underwood? Even SHE was wearin hot pants. It was at night. Parents who let their kids watch it are responsible for what is within it. My issue wasn't all that whooopla, it was that he sounded HORRIBLE! I mean, I ACH! It kinda surprised me how all over the place he was.
