I hate that word. It's so tacky. I mean, really, is there a need to go on and insult the other person's sexual choices? Not like who they sleep with, and if they get paid or not is any of your business. There are much more inventive insults around. Like...
"You son of a syphillitic cunt!" or, if you REALLY must, "You're easier than summing up 2+2"
There are also much more subtle insults.
Anyway, this was hardly the point. My point was, I hate the word "whore". I guess I don't mind "slut" too much, but "whore" does bother me.
Not that any of you cares. Just thought you should know. For whatever reason.

I personally love the word. I personally also dont use it as an insult very much however. But its a fun word. Whore. It has so many uses. shopping whore, attention whore, shoe whore, clothes whore. Then there's the plain old gutter trash whore. Though, unlike you, I find words like 'cunt' to be low brow. Slut is a nifty word, we caan agree on that one. Twat is an awesome word, but it really doesnt fall in to the same category. Thanks for sharing though! It gave me something to ramble about and i dont get to do that nearly enough lately.

She would also return it to her childe, were it not because she's sitting next to her behind the screen, so it would, pretty much, be futile.- Eh, I don't mind "cunt." "You CUNT!" "Why yes, I do happen to have one! Thank you!"

Is not the definition for "whore" a prostitute? Someone who gets paid for sexual favours, someone with a pimp... et cetera? I would, frankly, rather apply the word to someone who is a plain, living definition of the label.

I find none of these words hateful, although I steer clear of actually using the more extreme ones. It's the context which gives them meaning. The trade of a whore is a long and honourable (some would say neccessary) profession. But the same word used as an insult can be deeply personal.
Profanity has changed in this modern era. Before, what, 1850 or so, the strongest forms of swearing were those which invoked divinity. "Blimey" or "gorblimey" were considered shocking but descriptions of anatomy and bodily functions were perfectly acceptable. Then along came the Victorians, who shunned such things. Many an English town now has a road called Water Lane or similar, renamed by the prudish Victorians from the original "Shitter's Alley". So it was that the common names for intimate parts became terrible insults and swearwords.
Of course, this renders an unofficial motto of my old regiment now less socially acceptable. "Mieux vache que con". I'll let you look up it's translation, if you are so inclined.....
