Tell ya what dont miss it in the least, I wasnt in there ten minutes and two of em pmd me for sex. I mean seriously... needless to say I left shortly after that.

Whether or not one likes or dislikes the ghettos and it's counter part the suburbs (modded), let's face it, for the last several years both have been a part of our community. There are several individuals who have come from one or the other who have gone on to be something in this city. There are some elders who have found good ones in there to train.
Let's not forget that the most common way of communicating in this city tends to be a little unreliable from time to time. With that, some have used those areas to communicate with others when the need has arose.
Back to the topic of those who came after the ghettos and suburbs, my question is this, how many would be in this city now, how many would have donate to RB if they hadn't found out there was more than that area by being in that area and older pyres telling them there was more?
As for only n00bs being there without interesting topics to talk about, I have to disagree.
I am not saying that there aren't the typical n00bs, far from it. There are too many that were in the ghettos who were just pain in the butts. What I am saying is that every once in a while one could find something, someone more.
Do I disagree with the fact that one needs some amount of blood to enter, no. A good 200 BPs should have been enough to get an non donated for person into the rooms. A good 500 BPs and a donation should allow someone access to a less restricted area. Basically different levels of rewards for those who work harder.

I dunno about this new thing going on... if it weren't for the Ghettos, I'd never have met spookie nor Tifereth nor many many others. Which means neither I nor Tif (who began powering herself up only to be able to protect herself from enemies of my new family/mine) would ever have had the opportunity to learn from some of the oldest and most revered pyres in the City.
But I don't think 200bp/SS is exactly brilliant; it doesn't take a rocket scientist to get around them with next to no cost and little time consumed. For a dedicated flooder and abuser, that's nothing when it would enable him/her to fulfil their dearest wish/demanding need to be an asshole. Thankfully, I don't need the Ghettos to be an asshole anymore. ;D

I agree with Elektra, things were great before the Ghettos. This is good.

I wish the requirments for the modded were a bit higher. Maybe 500 pints or something of that nature. I was going to second or third that sentiment, but then I read Phoe's statement and I recalled the events that eventually led to me finding my way in the city. I don't think I was up to even 200 BP before I had questions and such. But it also doesn't take that long to come up with that much blood if you're serious about trying to get somewhere. I am glad that the suburbs are still in existence for those who need help or enjoy the endless happy hour that seems to go on there. I do see this as being something that has been a long time in coming, and for the sake of those who are newcomers to the city, I'm glad to see it.

I fully agree with Elektra here...I think this is a pretty awesome development. I started about 4 years ago before the ghettos were around, and mostly refuse to go in them because I can't stand the behavior and such in there.
Being one of those who frequently works with those who come from the ghettos, I think this will help them in the long run much like Kat said. 200 pints isn't that hard to attain if they desire to enter, and it gives them something as small as it is to work for.

Good. Finally someone's done something about the Ghettos. *shakes her head* Personally, I wouldn't be fussed if RB closed the whole thing down permenantly. There are waaaaay too many other ways to communicate. Without all the innane static in the background. I agree. RavenBlack City was a better place without the ghettos. *nods* I agree with the both of you ;D

A/S/L ... Cyber? Press 69 ... I will never hear those again.. Thanks Assholes !... but seriously... back a YEAR ago several people emailed RB about setting up a min. requirement in power and bp for the ghettos. but would have cost $100. nobody did anything, now this gets implemented in the Sub's, which in my opinion if i wanted a select few telling me what i can and cant say in a room then ill just change my name to Louvain and Merry Mav >.>....Love you Mclovins... ;D

I believe the suburbs was a superb implementation, and the ghetto was one that, in the long run, proved a mistake. Many vampires of course (and many decent ones among those) come from the ghetto, but for these ones, how many are just hopeless crap ?
Those who came out of the ghetto could and would have gone to the suburbs if the ghetto had not been implemented (maybe I'm wrong there, but I seem to remember that suburbs and ghetto were created at the same time). The thing is that the decent vampires from the ghetto were influenced by the crappy ones. Most of the time I spent there was as a teacher checking on my students, since a hell of a lot of trouble started there. I got pretty much nothing from there...
In the long run, I think this shall prove a good decision. (but in this, I feel I agree with everyone).

I suppose it's not fair for me to completely trash the ghettos and good for those of you that did manage to meet people there that are still friends today. Maybe it's just been my experience but back in the day when I did check them out from time to time, that was not my experience. I don't think I ever saw a room without at least 2 assholes in it. One cybering everyone, the other calling everyone freaks, etc. I also found, and again-my own experience-many vamps (and not all noobs) would go there and start flame wars cuz hey, you have to admit that's easy to achieve there. It's just personal preference. If you don't like them-cool. If you do like them-cool. I don't and choose not to frequent them and I know my momma don't want me hanging in no GHETTO!

Well, some additional information has been provided to me that forces me to somehow modify my statement... One of the issues with the Suburbs / Ghetto duet is that one is not watched, hence full of static noise, and the other is so much watched that it's looking like an human english 19th century victorian military club where anyone dropping a pin is frowned upon for their noisiness. In the suburbs you choke from holding your breath, in the Ghetto you hold your breath because of the stench. The balance probably lies in between, but John vampire can only choose between those two, and I have been shown that both places have their weak points. Expecting the younger vampire to abide by the multiplicity of "don'ts" of the suburbs is expecting much from them...
I may not like going there, but still I think this is important that young pire have a place where they can freely exchange, meet older and wiser vampires and generally be noisy like the youth they are.
It seems most of the issues were linked to the same few people who abused the system. The new rule implemented by Lord Ravenblack should greatly hinder their ability to annoy people. We'll see how it evolves, then.

I am currently banned, but I do agree with all that is said about the ghettos. I am not sure of why I'm banned, but been told it was because someone complained of Me kissing and biting my mate to much (It was her Ex I'm sure). Being stuck in the ghettos was like purgatory for the few months I been there, I didn't like it, that place was debauched.
I mainly lurked aside from a few intelligent conversations and the Occasional RP and most anyone who knows me well can say my worse trait is my grammer and spelling. (I mean by intelligent as in not the usual three word two sylible conversations that use numbers instead of words such as C U L8ter that were common place in the ghetto and these pires had the audacity to correct my spelling? Many a time I was tempted to tell them I punch key and type slow whats their excuse? At least I attempt to make a proper sentence.)
I also agree with the SS and BP limit idea, it will perhaps give some chat only pires to make better of them selves, well or at least make them not talking corpse pire with zero BP. I am a youngling and many times I came across an elder even an anciant that would look at me and another pire talking of powers as if we grew a second nose. I could only look on these pires with disbelife, "You been here how long? five years?" And I can only think that I knew more in the first month of being here, than they in the many years they been around and how on earth can they not know? It really is not that hard to look for info about this. Modified because: Got the pardon, my stint in purgatory limbos' over .

The other area is still open, and frankly at the moment thriving. Whether or not that will continue has yet to be seen.
I wouldn't go celebrating the downfall of that area as that's not the case. The case is simply, a more controlled environment to meet in.
