Hmmm, okay, so to sum it up... I would get hit by the fellow vamps I'm insulting way before the vampiric moderators come biting my ass, because it's a free speech place. .... I was just wondering whether you'd favour the public manner ("mod note"), or the private one (message into the ear of said human or mine). I have to admit that I'm starting to feel that my apprehension regarding the moderation of moderation is not justified. Anyhow, I guess this was still worth asking for, as Coquette said, this matter happens to be one of the reasons why I and at least 2 other fellow vampires I know of have come here. Exactly. It's not our business to protect you from the consequences of being a jerk to other people. So if you choose to insult someone, it's up to the people you're insulting to handle it, not us. We're not your personal babysitters. Most, if not all of you, are sires or have sires, which means if anyone thinks you need a good backhand and a "STFU", you'll probably know it long before we do.
As for the public or private moderations, I think it depends on the moderator. I prefer to send a personal message to someone explaining why they were to be moderated, rather than point them out in public and have all the other monkeys fling poop at them. Other moderators may choose to be more public.
The point is, we're not gonna moderate you for having an opinion, because opinions are like assholes. Everyone has them, and occasionally, they're full of shit. Besides I know that Coquette has no issues telling people when they are being dumb; she is rather sweet that way. The moderation issues have lead to some disgust on my end at other publications as well. Though I am, if rarely, at the end of being moderated (both times by my husband; none can claim him biased) I have seen others get smacked down for disagreeing with a current favorite. Awh. Me, sweet? No way. >.>
As people, we might like some of you better than others. I'll admit it, we've got some human behaviors when it comes to that. The point is to be open about it and let it only affect our personal lives, not the professional ones we have here as staff for Bite. So, while we might say, "I agree with this person, he/she has got it right on." we won't say, "GTFO, dummy, you don't know what you're talking about." if you choose to disagree.
There is a big difference between loving your family and friends and giving your family and friends preferential treatment. If you have to suck up to them that badly, then they probably shouldn't be your family or friends in the first place. I'm not going to tell Rena she's more capable of expressing her opinion than Kat, just because Rena actually likes me. That'd be like kicking a kid off the swing in the schoolyard because they wouldn't give you their Oreo at snacktime.

Does this mean you will not permit the posting of OOC convos? Because that was my issue with BCIN - permitting the posting of OOC convos of mine that were clearly marked OOC. When I objected and asked that they be removed they were not so I removed myself.

If it's not something that's said by the vampire, it doesn't need to go in the vampiric sections, plain and simple. If such an issue happens here, Boomer, feel free to PM me with proof ((preferably screenshots of you saying it was OOC, etc)) that it was not meant in the context it's being portrayed in and we will remove it as fitting.

Eureka!! They get it!! I think I'm starting to love me some D'dary... oh... God... did I just say that? *Sobs* It is simply because they are great. I am glad I was sired into the line.... So very, very true. I couldn't agree with the two of you more. As a result, I have canceled my subscription with a certain other paper. I just simply stopped going there. ;D I still read that certain other paper on occasion, but it is quickly becoming as interesting as the ghettos. Perhaps even less so.

I may not get this worded the way I want to, but hopefully I can get my point across. So far, I don't think anyone has been modded and thats pretty impressive if you take into account the number of posts here.
Secondly, I think we're getting a real good mix of people here and think more will follow. The paper hasn't even been going that long but one thing I noticed is that just going through a lot of threads, in a very short amount of time, we have managed to get to know a bit more about each other than we ever had in 'other papers'. Why did I mention that? I think its because the comfort level here is felt by most, therefore allowing vamps and their humans to share more and also be more forthcoming.

Well, I think it's silly to be modded for simply being yourself. Some of us (not me) are just assholes, and if you end up moderated for just being who you are, then it's like someone saying: "No, you can no longer be you."
Now tell me, does that make sense to anyone?

Hehe. Actually, it makes a ton of sense. I'm not gonna let a puny little human tell me I can't be myself, because if they tried, I'd enjoy myself a tasty snack. I'm more likely to listen to another vampire (although I still probably wouldn't do it, admittedly) than I am to listen to a human bossing me around. Especially one who tells me I have to defy my basic nature just because they say so, because heaven forbid a vampire be mean to another person.

If a human tries to tell me what to do, they'll get one hell of a stern look from me before feeling my fangs penetrate their neck. It's that simple.
*Gives Coq an angry look and throws her logic at her*
Eat logic, bitch! >.>
