Nodding to the DJ, nitenurse walked over to the center of the dance floor and waited for the song to end. Her beaded jade dress sparkled as she stood in the torchlight, looking around at the long room that was decorated to simulate the Pantheon. Indeed, with the marble floor, stone walls and torchieres, she could easily be in an ancient Roman building. Few of the citizens had come to the party wearing togas though, and nitenurse had decided that she'd save her ceremonial Consullary robe for clan events that were private. This party was a much larger event and had been a celebration of their recent military success as well as the past three years.
As the music ended, she was handed a microphone. Public speaking wasn't her favorite thing to do. Given her preference, she'd be in that table in the back corner with her sire, watching and observing... and taking notes. With one last sip of her champagne, she flicked on the microphone and waited for the conversations to end.
"September 8, 2005. An ordinary day. An ordinary event in the lives of four friends. Yet, today, we recognize it as something extraordinary." She glanced back to that table in the back. "Seeking to create a clan home that was like none other. One that espoused values and ideals that fit their dreams, they created the Republic of Ravenblack." she paused for a moment, glancing around the room to her citizens, their friends and the invited guests. "Who would have imagined, on that day, what you see today? Longevity is a precious commodity in the city. One to be celebrated. Though time has passed... those four friends moved on... others entered, and have also moved on... but others came, and stayed and maintained the legacy of our Founders. Through wars, and times of peace... the clan has grown, prospered, continues to train new citizens, provide a safe haven and home. The leadership has changed but the ideals have not." She nodded toward the tuxedo-clad waiters who stood at the ready and waited for glasses of champagne to be distributed. Raising her glass as she looked from leaders to clan citizens, students, family, friends and special guests before she spoke.
"Congratulations to the citizens of the Republic on three years.... May this be just a beginning," she raised her glass in salute. "Long live the Republic!"
