1. Try to stay on topic. What is on topic? On topic is any discussion stemming from the original topic or the flow of conversation. For instance, if the topic is perhaps a vampire going Dead and Buried, “cheese” is not a legitimate topic stemming from the original topic. Basically, we expect you to use your common sense and try not to clutter our articles with content that may be considered un-newsworthy. The occasional comment will obviously be overlooked. For greater off topic nonsense and discussion, please see our “Off Topic” section.
2. News stories and announcements that are not factual (i.e. reporting a siring that did not take place, etc.) will not be tolerated by Bite staff. All staff are instructed to check their facts and we expect the same of our readers, and as such articles that are false or untrue (with the exception of the gossip section) will be monitored and removed from our newspaper.
3. We require a legal name and documentation of citizenship for each subscription.(IGN) If a staff member notices that a reader does not have their legal name presented in their signature, the reader will be contacted and eventually their subscription will be deactivated.
4. If you wish to make a suggestion or to question staff, please do so in private or in the Letters to the Editor section. We are open to suggestion and discussion if you feel the staff has unfairly warned or taken inappropriate action against you.
5. When uploading photos to the Bite online forum, please keep in mind that they need to be neither too large or too small. Linking to the photo is preferable if you're unsure.
6. As always, free speech reigns. Bite does not expect all vampires to get along and as such, fully supports insult, raucous debate, conversation, and peace of mind. A Bite reader should not be shy in contributing their thoughts or opinions to any article or discussion. That being said, there are a few topics that we must keep an eye on, for legal purposes:
- Language and Obscenity
Though obscenity is difficult to be defined as per journalistic standards, we find that excessive cursing or overtly sexual language is not conducive to a healthy, happy newspaper. As always, cursing and adult language is welcome and accepted here, but please limit yourself as an attempt to keep Bite respectable. Similarly, any sort of language or discussion that could be termed as pornographic or lewd may be moderated if complaint is raised. We apologize for this, as it clearly is not promoting entirely free speech, but we don't have much of a choice.
More will be added as the staff sees fit. ((Some of this will also be addressed in the OOC Rules section.))
