It seems that loyalty is a one-way street around here. Why is that?
With companions, childer, clans, friends and family, who deserves the most loyalty?
Do they all deserve equal amounts? Is someone to be trusted more than the others?
What are your thoughts on loyalty? Where do you stand on who to stay with and defend?

My loyalty is first and formost to my bound partner. She is my equal and I hers. In a Sire/chylde relationship, the Sire may have several chylder to tend to and there could be a conflict where the sire would have to choose one chylde over the other. That is not the case in bound partners. I can never have a second bound partner to conflict my loyalties. I know that my Genevive is the one for me. She and I could be happy in this city no matter what, so long as we are together.

My first loyalty is to my husband and my sire. Luckily fer me, they're the same person <.< Then comes my family. As for everyone else, it depends if I'm in a good mood that day or not.  |

It has always gone like this for me:
1. My family in my clan.
2. The rest of the clan.
3. The rest of the family.
4. Friends outside of the clan.
Now that I'm happily married and have a childe who is making excellent progress in the city, I'm not sure how I feel about that list.
My husband is my priority, but we both accept the fact that neither of us will openly share private clan things with the other. My childe isn't around that much, and when she is, she becomes my priority. Strangely enough, my husband and childe have yet to be around at the same time, and have yet to meet each other. But their needs are quite different. Mordia needs information; Arias needs my love and companionship.

As of right now, most of my loyalties lie with my sire and my closest friends. I consider my childer my friends, so they are grouped as them.  |

It has always been Family first..then clan.. That being said there is still kind of a tier level to loyalties... I include sire, partner, and childer.. as top priority.. Clanmates and close siblings Buddies then family that I dont know so well.. My sire.. ophelia I'd do anything for... ditto for my companion, Ephiny. In childer I would have to say there is a level of trust and loyalty .. Gypsychild, Phoenixxe, and stormy have been with me for years... as for Solanea.. I am still getting to know her.. I'd lay under a bus for Gypsy, Phoe and stormy.... As for Solanea... I'd have to make sure she isnt driving it first Clan.. well .. as long as it didnt hurt my family .. I'd do what is necessary to be absolutely loyal to the clan. Close siblings... I'm there.. Buddies.. most of them are family ... so .. as long as it doesnt screw up my family and clan .. well then .. I'm there and you can count on me  Rest of family that I dont know so well.. There you are... my priority system.. I dont state that its right... just that it works for me. |

Mine basically goes:
Childe
Partner
Sire
Clan
Family
Friends
As long as it didn't hurt my childe, partner, or sire, then I would do anything for my clan. I'm deadly loyal to all of them, but if push came to shove, that's the order I'd have to honestly go with.

Family and friends come first for me. They're like one in the same, my friends are my family, and my family are my friends. They deserve the most loyalty that I have. Then comes Vee, because well.... Family comes first, and he's not exactly family.

I would have to say my loyalty would be to myself first and foremost. This is not done through selfishness, but through integrity. I always follow my own conscience in these decisions. I hold my family higher than clan, and yet if one of my family should misstep, I would not come to their defense. If a member of one, or the other were to step out of line, according to my personal judgment, I would even help in the punishment of he/she who has erred. I am very loyal to family and clan. Simple, but I should also receive the same loyalties from them as well.

My loyalty goes (in that order) to Truth... Because I am the sword of thruth. Honour... There is nothing I hold dearest than this slightly outdated value Clan Sire & child (If and when I get one) True friends Family Rest of the vampires (humans) I'd get zeroed in defence of the first two with pleasure and without a thought . I'd get zeroed for the next two, because of the pledge I took to them I'd fight for the next two, but not to the moment I risk being zeroed. I would fight, or not fight for the last two, depending on how they are regarding the first two. Note: this can and should be held for or against for further reference on the subject. |

Eh, it's too easy to slap a 'loyality' sticker on someone and avoid any kind of thought on the issue. I do not blindly follow any man or cause. Loyality is a tool of the mind. These types of tools require skill to be weilded properly.
All my actions are based on a perspective veiw of said situation by personial observation and deducive reasoning. Pros and Cons of any choice are weighed. How said choice will affect me. Debts and vows amongst kin are taken into account. All this is weighed against the vairable 'X factor' of what I feel is moral... with my unconventionial concept of what is moral, this is a very unpredictable vairable.

I've learned that loyalty is a thing of convienience with most pires. I've been overly loyal to family and clan in the past and all it's ever gotten me was a huge loss of blood and a shit load of disappointment. The only vampire I've ever been loyal to that hasn't been a complete disappointment is...oddly enough... the ASP I'm bound to. There are also a few of my ex-clansmen and family members who I still hold respect for and if asked, I'd fight at their side, but ultimately, my lessons in loyalty have taught me that only those who are truly loyal to you are worth giving your loyalty to.

My family and partner are first. I give loyalty to those that return the same but I also find that true loyalty is rare. I am lucky with having a lot of people that I have known for years that I can trust and whose trust has been tried and true.

As for anyone new in my life (unlife) I don't give trust out easily.

If a family member acts like a putz to someone in my clan, then I'll side with clan and bitch at the family. If a clanmate acts like a putz to someone in my family, then I'll side with the family and bitch at the clan. I trust that both entities will not put me in the position to have to choose, but my family is more than aware that if they are in an unfriendly clan and the water starts flying between us, that I'll tan their ass in a heartbeat and buy them a drink afterwards. Conclusion: Don't be a putz and Seyda stays happy. The End. *bows* |
