Quote of Coquette in the rules section follows This is in general directed to Meph's recent actions, but regardless, ANYONE who continues this BS is going to be edited for it.
At Bite, we like you to be able to speak your mind. We condone it. Hell, we ENCOURAGE it. We don't encourage you hiding behind whatever you think is "clever" and not taking responsibility for your bullshit.
But this shit with the hidden snippity comments in black text just because it blends in with certain skins? It's gonna stop. If I see it, which I will, because I'm always watching, I'm going to edit it into whatever color I see fit. Maybe a nice, frilly pink, or bright red. And I -will- see it because I am -always- watching.
You come here because we won't moderate you when you speak your mind, so don't be a pussy and hide your true thoughts just because you think nobody's smart enough to figure it out.
--Decree by High Mistress Fancy Pants
Since I couldn't comment on that in the rules section, I brought it here... As I use the grey skin, I always got to read Meph's writing. I know there are many skins, and I would like to know which are the coulours that I and the others should avoid.
I mean, Shina asked questions about loyalty and her using colours helped a LOT. Someday, I or others might want to also colour text. If I had been to choose a colour, I would probably have chosen black, since it shows nicely against grey... so again, what are the colours one shouldn't use ?
Or maybe it's not the colour blending text but the hidden negative commenting you don't want to see anymore...
I did find it funny to see the "hidden" comments changed to frilly pink *smiles*

Hidden funny/random comments don't seem that bad, and other colors I dun think are a problem... It's just the "hey, I love you!" You're a douchebag, hahaha, now you're gonna read this and think I like you while never knowing I really think you're full of shit, cause I'm too cowardly to tell you to your face ones that are lamesauce <.<

Black is the only color that I'm aware of being able to be used to "hide" comments, among the skins. The problem I have with it is that Meph is most certainly aware that his comments were 'invisible' so to speak, having made comments like, "Haha, people who use the green skin can't read this." and other similar comments, and has been abusing the color in order to bash other people. We let you say whatever you want here, and hiding behind a certain color of ink just because you fear the repercussions of your words is both cowardly and dishonorable, and if he's going to be a royal cunt, I'm most certainly happy to highlight it for the rest of the City to see. Meph claims that he's using "hidden" comments because he "just likes black" but if that were the case, wouldn't ALL of his commentary be written in black ink? Yes. It's obvious to me that he was using it to be cowardly and underhanded in his insults, and since that is the case, I chose to implement the rule. Funny comments are fine and dandy, but if they were all that funny, then why not let everyone read them? Basically, in a newspaper that lets you say whatever you want, I do not nor will ever see the point in hiding your words. It is mostly the underhanded and sneaky commentary that I no longer want to see, but until the man perpetrators learn to knock the bullshit off, I'm going to end up changing all black text to pink, until everyone gets the hint. Sorry, Rena, and black, for having to change your examples, but what goes for one must go for all. *winks*

Lestat, considering the very little you do for this paper, it'd be wise to consider your actions carefully. Consider that "warning" ignored. ;D

Mmhm. Perhaps a temporary removal of powers while Legion is away might be in order. I guess I'll look into that.

She's not acting "all-powerful"... she's doing exactly what any good owner of an establishment should do and is putting her foot down when people are being cunts. O.o
And Lestat, I like you n all, but just because this is a free-speech source and you're a writer here, does NOT mean you should be an asshole. You've been like this a lot lately. Methinks the title of "Pheonix Lord" has gone straight to yer head...

Methinks the title of "Pheonix Lord" has gone straight to yer head... Let alone the fact that nothing's being contributed that any regular cunty reader couldn't contribute. I say, ditch the dead weight.

I know I can't talk but there are words I find extremely offensive and if by using them you feel you're making a point then I'd encourage you to consider the fact that it's crass and uncalled for and whether or not you're miss fancy whatever the hell title you've given yourself you have an obligation to at least treat those that come here with a modicum of respect and that includes what language you use when you address them.
Throwing the word cunt around because you think it's warranted ever y five fucking seconds is NOT warranted.
Muct like black_dragonet I didnt' see a problem with Meph's posts since I find the green skin obnoxious and with the grey it's visible.
What you're attempting to mod him on is a perceived dishonourable action which is purely subjective and quite franky something which any dumb shit with a scroll key can find eventually. Which they did. I personally found it funny.
I certainly didn't find it worth the censorship and abuse that was heaped and I found it a clever disguise by using what amounts to a visible sotte voce to convey an vocal undercurrent. Everyone eventually found out, those that use an alternate skin READ the stupid thing so in the end all it did was give him the attention he was looking for in putting it there in the first place.
Common sense would dictate he didn't do it to hide it forever. But did it to get the appropriate rise out of the other side.
He did. *shrug* No harm no foul as far as I can see.
As you said, none of us are censored in what we say. So by your own rationale do you not think that he knew that and was not censoring himself but being quite clever about how he did it? Seems exactly the same thing to me. What YOU'RE saying is that there is no censorship as long as it is done as you say it should be done. Cleverness aside, he still said it, out in the open and just because some people thought it way to cheeky they decided to lead a witch hunt. I say tough shit for them, and ha ha for Meph for thinking up something he essentially sat back and watched and pointed and laughed as the others jumped up and down.
Anyway - that was just opinion of course, In whatever the hell colour comes up with the grey skin.

I've the skin with black background-makes it easier for me to see things here. While it matters little to me since most of the things that come out of his mouth are infantile, I can never see his commentary as it appears black on black to me. I don't think its censorship or any of that sort of bullshit to ensure his font is readable with minimal effort. It's responsibility as a forum owner.

Right now, you only look like a kid throwing a tantrum because he's had to be reminded that someone else is in charge.

Sorry about that, folks. At black's request, I moved it here. Anyway, it doesn't take a lot of effort to make the text readable. In all honesty, it's about a whole two seconds of work and it doesn't cause me to break a sweat. He is all too aware that a lot of people use the green skin, and that his messages are "hidden" to those who use it. I've pinkened a lot of statements that have been made saying so. In any newspaper, nobody's playing the "Find the hidden message" game unless it's some sort of GAME, so I don't see the point in it. And let's not forget that while Meph is the most frequent abuser, this is not about him and really isn't targeting him solely, although I do admit that his comments were the ones who broke the camel on this particular subject. I am also aware that Navy is "hard to read" on the deep blue background, and technically I can and should edit them similarly, however, the Navy ink on the Deep Blue skin is still visible and at the very least, it is still obvious that there is -something- to read, instead of the comment being altogether hidden. I have looked into modifying the skin so it's a bit brighter in comparison to the Navy ink, but then you run into problems with brightness and burning out people's retinas, so, as of right now, I'm still trying to find a solution to -that- problem. The Green skin happens to be one of the most popular because of its high level of contrast and ease of reading. Nobody wants to have to squint to read a newspaper. I'm also not aware that anyone actually uses the Deep Blue skin. O.o Regardless, I do have an obligation to make this paper at least a decent reading experience for everyone and I suppose I really can't do that if a majority of the readers... can't read all of it. I don't see him being censored whatsoever. I have not removed his pen, I have simply changed his ink. In fact, Meph has already talked about this with me and been given permission (though he really didn't need it) to rebut with whatever statements he'd like to make... as long as the masses can read them. *winks*
