Human History
Liander has never know his birth parents. His first memories are of training, and being raised as a soldier by a company named Abstergo Industries. As a small child, he and other "potentials" were put through rigorous training that even hardened Marines would flinch at. Among other things, he learned extensive weapons training and hand-to-hand combat. He lived in a large dorm with other his age, all of whom went through the same training. It was a simple life - Rise, eat, train, and never question the authorities.
Growing into his teenage years, it was obvious that Liander was always a step above his peers. He was smarter, faster, and stronger. This did not go unnoticed. At the age of 16, Liander was one of three children to begin recieving "special" training.
The training process began with a series of genetic experiments. All three of the children recieved drugs that would make them stronger and smarter. Then there was a final drug - One that was created to interact with each individual biology different. The resulting effect was that of Liander having the ability to create and manipulate fire.
Liander and the two others, Altair and Alex, became a special team. Called the "Gatherers," these three were sent out all over the world to locate and either retrieve/eliminate a variety of targets. Abstergo didn't care how the mission was completed, nor what was done during it, save for a single rule - Absolutely no trace that they had ever been there, not even a passing glance.
Liander and his team never once hesitated to perform the most soul-wrenching deeds. Rape, murder, massacre; these things were not above them. They figured that anywhere they went, the people would die anyways... So why not have some fun?
In his early twenties, Liander started to develop a conscience. The weight of his sins had finally hit him. All his life, he'd been a loyal soldier, but to what end?
The next mission would be his last. As Liander, Alex, and Altair tore through a village, killing anyone and everyone within, they eventually came upon a monestary occupied by warrior monks. Slaying them all was all too easy. They weren't after a person this time, but rather an object. Code-named "The Apple," this object was of the highest importance to Abstergo Ind. Their only description was that of a small, metal ball.
They found it within the monk's place of prayer, hidden in a chest. Light burst from the small chest as it was opened, and seeing the object, Liander decided enough was enough. He shot it to pieces.
Unfortunately for him and his two comrades, Abstergo was not oblivious to this act. They declared the Gatherers rogue, and orders to kill on sight were given. But the three warriors would not gown down without a fight. If they were going to Hell, they would drag the company down with them.
The team made an assualt on the company headquarters. Armed with only their wits and basic, handheld weaponry, the three of them slaughtered everyone within. They showed no mercy, took no captives. If it breathed, it died.
This, however, would not be the end of the story. A company as large as Abstergo could not be destroyed, but only hampered. Almost as quickly as Liander and his team had killed the executives, others rose to take their place.
The three men, now in their mid-twenties, each went their seperate way, destined to live their lives in exile.
“Even cornered, to my last breath I remain who and what I am. I will not hide, nor tremble, nor beg. Let them come and reckon with fury that is doom defiant. Here I stand, hell-horde! Unbowed! But understand: if it my destiny that I should perish this day, I shall not go down easily... and I shall NOT go down alone. Yes, come, and let us make an end of it - THERE IS DOOM ENOUGH FOR ALL!”
