Shina stood at the Hall of Severance, the familiar building causing a shiver to rise up her spine. She was nervous, but had her purse packed with the coins she needed. Her Courage lay dormant in a sound slumber back at the cabin, and he had no idea what she was about to do. Shina didn’t think the man would discourage her if it was what was for the best, just disagree with the reasons as to why she was about to do it again.
Sever Annabelle. The one woman Shina could always count on to be there for her time and time again; the one woman who had accepted her into open arms. Shina adored her. Loved her as if she was her mother. To sever her again would cause the Queen much pain, unneeded pain to accompany her return to the City.
I am damaged goods. Annabelle will be better off in the long run.
She repeated the thought to herself with each step. The shirt she wore (Surenitee’s button-down dress shirt,) was rolled at the sleeves, forearms exposed for the thin sliver of silver blade, ready to cut the shared blood between not only Annabelle, but also her childe Odette.
Odette and she scarcely spoke. Odette deserved more. Shina referred her to Coquette. She thought the two of them would make a great match. With a swift run, Costigan grabbed the freshly cleaned knife, cutting her ties with Odette.
The quicker, the less pain.
Now, for the one that would really harm. She winced before the knife even touched her bleeding, pale skin, scarred from previous events in her unlife. She dumped the coins across the floor, watching as the vampires who worked at the Hall diligently cleaned up the mess of riches.
The quicker, the less pain.
One thick, dragged gash appeared on her arm. Like magic. The last spark of Shina fell to the floor in the form of blood. Again, vampires who worked in the hall grabbed their handy Sham-Wows and swabbed up the spilt blood. It meant nothing to them.
Another’s pain is another’s trash.
If Shina couldn’t change, she would lose everything. The last thing she could handle would be the loss of her childe Chazz, her companion Surenitee, her sisters Nova and Kyo, and her love for the one man who was a constant happiness in her life.
She already lost Inu, and that was more than she could possibly handle. It was time for some serious self-evaluation and reflections. And most certainly time for change.
