Peretti's stuff is inspirational, yes, and so are Huggins' books. Personally I don't see a problem with that unless it's overly so, ie: forcing said religion down your gullet. Most of it is more of a good v. evil type of setting That's what I thought about some of Bill Meyer's stuff when I was still a Christian (Eli, Blood of Heaven trilogy), and a few other authors. It's certainly not the Left Behind series, but they ain't exactly CS Lewis either. Again, not saying anything directly about Peretti or Huggins' stuff, just commenting on the subject. I know, I was just saying Seriously to anyone who has an open mind check out James Byron Huggins' stuff, I thoroughly enjoyed it. And I give the highest reccomendation to the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. I need some new books to read, so hard for any to keep my interest nowadays, which I why I recommend Percy Jackson so much

I like how you waited 'til you went offline to post that. -.-
Books! If you haven't read the LKH Anita Blake books yet and are planning to, I'd recommend you only buy up to like the 5th or 6th then pack it in; they're shite after that.
I really want to read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Classic Regency Romance-now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem! If anybody has, what's it like? I picked it up and scanned a few pages in Waterstones and it seemed pretty hilarious.

I'm curious about Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I've read about it but haven't come across it.
I also want to read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and at the shops the other day I saw Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. >_>

I adore books. I've always wanted a library like the Beast's (from Beauty and the Beast). Love the smell of old books - leather-bound, canvas-bound... you know the type. XD
Kat and Sean brought me to Covent Garden last week and we went into several antiquarian bookstores that were just AMAZING. Found a Bible that was over 100 years old for 35 quid (got it for the bf's Christmas present) and I bought a couple others that were decades old.
I especially love classical literature. Authors nowadays don't write novels like they used to. >.<
Currently reading Der Fuehrer by Konrad Heiden, written in 1944. (The smell is so amazing, distracts me sometimes. >.>) It's a pretty interesting read about Hitler's life but it requires immense concentration.
I've finished the other book I bought - Ulysses Found (1964). It's amazing to see how much of Greek mythology I can actually remember. LOL.
The other book that I got is a 1947 edition of The Complete Works of Shakespeare. That makes 4 complete works that I have now. XD
I'm eyeing the Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales on the shelf that costs about £100-200. >.> One day. One day.

The Olympians series is based in Greek mythology It's also found in the 8-12 year old section at Chapters... So I'm seriously iffy about it. Not saying it can't be good, but it's probably a bit too juvenile for me.

My sister has them, so I may try reading one of them. She said they were good, but... still iffy.

To each their own.. I was kinda against them too, then Nikki made me read them, I really didn't want to put them down. As I said before it takes -alot- for me to like a book, so for me to recommend it means something >.> If you don't like them, come rant at me about it

Don't know where it's gone now, but it used to be my reading material on a night when I was a kid, lol. There was a time when I could tell you pretty much any Andersen story almost word-for-word from that copy (all copies are different, obviously, due to translation). Haha. I was such a geekid.

Psh. I grew up with fairy tales. Nothing wrong with that. And. I've come to a point where I am seriously considering adding Greek mythology to the list of bedtime stories I want to tell my kids. Those not involving rape and sex, of course.

I agree with you Elektra. Once my daughter is old enough to understand them I'll have no problem telling her about the Fates, Achilles, the Muses, and every God and Goddess I've ever wrote a report on.
Fairy Tales are what make the world fun as a kid. But screw that story about the boogyman. That only stands to scare the crap out of your kid.
Thanks for all the suggestions! Go ahead and keep them coming if anyone else wants to add some.

I'm well versed in mythology, so my kids are going to be as well. Greek is first, then the more pagan ones... Right now my favortie is Norse, in fact; I wrote a full report on greek mythology for my senior english project, should anyone wish to read it, pm me

It was our advanced English project in 6th Grade to do a full report on all the Major Gods and Goddess'. I still have it and I'm planning on using that as a base. I also love Egyptian Myths so I'll try and add that to her bedtime Fairy Tales.
