Bry, it's not stepping over your bounds, I do naturally assume people do what I do and read the last 10 posts before opening new threads. And since my post was in them.. you get the point. I do get annoyed when things I say are reiterated as "new ideas"; quite frankly, it just bugs me.
The moving threads thing does seem like a lot of work. And it IS going to clutter the forum with more sub-boards, etc. But I also think that if you have to go to a special place to read OLD NEWS, people are gonna be a lot more aware that it's... well.. old, and you don't comment on it. Kind of like microfilm at the library. You don't go running around waving one in the air and trying to discuss current topics with people on what you've seen on microfilm.

It wasn't a new idea as I remember you saying something about it a while ago.. like a few months ago or something. I just wanted to see how the rest of the community thought about it. I don't do that though; I generally only pay attention to a few board. Announcements and then the banner and human pictures threads. If I have something going on in another board, I'll pay attention until I get bored. ;x Personally, I think the archives idea is a great. Every newspaper retailer has an archive section SOMEwhere. Be it online or at the building.

well sure, the 'bump' thing is annoying but sometimes there are players who go away for awhile and then actually scour through old things where they want to comment. *shrugs* seems unnecessary to not allow that to happen...

Or maybe people can learn to read and not reply to threads that are months old and therefore irrelevant. Rendering this entire situation even more irrelevant. Is it too much to hope that people won't do stupid things? I have Damari do it on purpose sometimes. Rarely. I actually have to feelings on it either way. See the benefits of leaving it or doing something about it and can work with whatever is decided. Cheers big ears. Puawai

Also, if threads change location, wouldn't it also change the links? I like to be able to find old threads in case I need to look for something. I voted for No, because it doesn't particularly irk me when old threads are responded to Yes it would change the links... for that reason I dont think the threads should be moved. At Miranda's family house she keeps track of news pertaining to her family (sirings, severances, zeros etc). The links to the events are kept in case anyone wants to read them for what ever reason. All they have to do is click on the link and it takes them right to were they need to go to read the information. If the threads are moved then an error occurs and I would have to find the current link and re-do to update the information. ( I already had to do that once with this paper when threads were changed... (I think because of a sub board or something being created)) Seems like unnecessary work for the staff and well, for anyone that has those links stored for their access to have to change things. Especially when when they are already in the proper location. I also disagree with locking topics unless there is a problem going on. After all wouldnt locking old thread that were not causing anyone any grief be going against the papers motto of Free Speech?

Actually most archives are locked so its viewing only.
And it wouldn't be any current threads just older ones.
>> I understand that some people are gone for long periods of time and then come back and need to catch up. But at the least I think we should scoot a few of the 6month and older posts out. Simply because they do clutter. And it makes sense for the Bite in a fashion because as someone said, most online newspapers, magazines, etc, have an archive you can view only on.
