Ok so yes, this is entirely inspired by what is happening with Ace et al and the vampire rageday, but where exactly does it say that a vampire has to put up with being bitten by another vampire on a quest? Or that they do have to put up with it, for that matter? As far as I’m aware, the only rules governing our kind within these city walls is that we do not insult each over in public places, i.e. the ghettos, and we do not do anything to piss RavenBlack off, such as by laundering coin, going berserk and making yourself too many thralls etc etc. You all know the ins and outs without me going over them again, however, it doesn’t say any where I can find, that we have to act the way another vampire (other then the afore mentioned and his partner) thinks is right.
So why do some ‘pires do this? Why do they assume that anybody who doesn’t act the way they think is right must be in the wrong? If we all went around doing that, this city would be rocked by all out war each night. Yet not everyone acts this way, I know when I was questing I bit anyone who was over the set blood limit without stopping to ask if it was ok, and nobody retaliated. They of course had every right to and I would have seen it as a lesson learnt and not even bothered to concern anyone with it. After all, if I bit the vampire in the first place, the fault would have been mine. It’s a bit like when you bump into someone on the street, sometimes both parties say sorry, sometimes you get a mouthful of abuse and sometimes you apologise but don’t even get an acknowledgement in return. Pot luck is the expression that springs to mind.
To clarify (see Uriah I do listen to you) I am not saying that Ace and co are in the wrong and rageday is an innocent victim. He chose to throw a weapon instead of speak to whoever bit him, thus he made his own bed and has to lie in it. I'm just wondering why he thought he had the right to attack with no warning, and why the other side thnk they have the right to fight back en masse. This isn't about being bitten on a quest, it's about the way we as a species behave around each other, and why we so readily cause physical harm as a way to make our opinions heard.
Anyway, I always digress when I write these things, my point is this; what gives a vampire the right to declare the correct way of behaving toward their fellow bloodsuckers? And why is violence so readily used?
(And please, none of that “because I can” business. I know some vampires act childishly but I’ve yet to see any dead infants writing into this publication. Although quite a few of those who do seem to have the mental capacity of a babe in arms. ;D )
