So you’ve been sleeping, and you awaken to see that there’s some of your accumulated blood on the floor, plus you feel two pints lighter. Then, noticing some of your furniture seems to be unarranged, you notice that the coins you were holding to go to a transit and pub with your friends are gone. It seems that a pair of vampires have intruded into your home, stolen your coins and drank blood from you. Now, is that fair, or right? It’s not courteous to break into a home.
I think it’s agreeable to most that it’s impolite to find people in their homes, drink and rob from them, or worse, hit them with a Holy Water or a doubleshot of Garlic Spray. So why does it happen?
Perhaps it is because some do not realize they are treading on private property. Or, rather, a vampire who is resting in the home is not the owner, but a guest. How that makes a difference, I don’t really know, but I guess it might to others. What are your thoughts on this?
Is it worth hitting someone because they intruded into your space? Is it worth a dramatic monologue filled with insults? Or is it simply a petty annoyance that can be ignored?
What is your opinion?

I think you should be able to hit someone if they happen to break in. I mean, you locked the place up and they still got into it somehow! Punish them in the name of the moon!
Yeah, scratch that. But if your place is made for resting and you place a sign up that says something specific to not drink/rob from the residence and they still do it anyway, I'd hit them, considering it must be some newly turned kid. *shrugs lightly.*

Don't... Don't you have Shadows if you have a home? You're in effect untouchable from fangs, fingers, or vials. You would have to be scrolled out to just see if you were even yellow.
This topic is silly.

Actually, Lestat, it does take an hour or so for the property owners to sink in shadows so it is possible to "catch" them before that occurs.
In any event, here are my protocols:
When invited to stay at someone's house I neither bite nor rob anyone therein, figuring they are a guest as well.
When passing through the neighborhood and dropping in on a friend's house I may bite everyone there, leaving some amusing message about my dropping by and biting folks and then running off. I would not rob anyone. If I am not feeling amusing I may just pass by unnoticed doing nothing to anyone.
If I come upon the home of someone I do not know I would likely bite anyone therein except the owner, if the owner was visible. I would not leave any message. I would likely not rob anyone.
If I come upon a home that is blue I would leave it alone. If it were a friend's house I might wibble my lip about not being invited to the party. It would never occur to me to scroll.
Since I do not use weapons I would not know protocols for use of them in someone else's home. I would suspect that things like relationship between the inhabitants and whether or not there was a war going on would dictate appropriate responses.

Simply to remove drama from my unlife, when I am wandering the city I do not enter other people's homes unless I am asked. If I have been invited I might bite the people there that I know and tell them they were yummy. I save my biting for those who sleep in the streets or pubs.

This topic is silly. Only one person gets house shadows, even if two names are on the building. My wife and I have a home in the city. She is shadowed when inside, I am not. During our ongoing war with PoE/IDC/Dawns I rarely rested inside the home for that very reason. A home should not be a place of war but it is also naive, and a bit unfair, to expect that you'll be left alone if you ARE at home. Knowing that others rest in my home, and I am in a war... if I choose to be inside, I would rather they just come inside and HW me and not scroll the building. And yes, I speak from experience... they did scroll it... to hit only me, and not Nara. That was simply a waste of scrolls. Maybe they forgot to put the 2iC on the target list *shrug* As far as ongoing attacks- biting and robbing... If you do it... do it, and move on. If you rob me and stick around, expect to get robbed back and displaced. Likewise, if you hang out in the house more than 12 hours, you will get displaced unless you've greeted us.

I'll bite, and rob. If it's a friend's home, I'm probably more likely to do it, and leave them a message for laughs. I'm mean?

There are thieves in this city. Private property, pub, shop, empty alleyway.. it is all fair game. The rule of thumb should be "Don't be clinking your coins about and then no one can hear it."
Now, taking your baggage to someone's home is tacky. Being in a war or knowing your insults have earned you a shower, and hiding in a friend's home is rude to the host if they are not involved, but the regular nip or clip the purse? Sorry, all is fair in coins and banking.
Those of us who thieve for a living, just laugh all the way to the bank at the thought of the resources the homeowner just wasted.

Punish them in the name of the moon! *gigglesnort* Anywho, what the Uncle said. Then again, I rarely ever go into people's homes that I don't know. We must both be mean? ;D

I remember how during a war we had, someone said that scrolling a home to hit a target was dishonourable, and that very night she scrolled Sartori out of his domicile to attack him.
*shrugs*

People are fickle in RB. They often changes their morals, and values to better fit a situation. Edit: For the record, I totally agree with scrolling someone out of their home to hit them. Like I'd let some rich pire hide in his house for ethics! Throw him out, and beat him!

I will break into someones home and rob them. Even if they don't have money hanging out of their pocket, I'll still try.
And if I had my own home, you bet your ass I'd use it in war.

Certainly yes, if your target is the one in house shadows, break down the door... kinda fun to do that too *smirk*

I've scrolled people out of their homes to hit them...
and I feel no guilt for biting/robbing people in said homes. If someone's as yellow as piss in snow, YES, I will rob. And I'm a vampire; I get hungry, goddamnit!
No one is safe from my bite!
