And as promised, here is the third edition of Zuri's Zeal! I know it's been a while, but I've got a lot to actually talk about here. Now first off, this column is intended to be something along the lines of social commentary, I want to open it up to the public to discuss. Things here are always open for discussion and I encourage all that read to voice their opinion on the situation, to argue with me, or to argue with each other.
Now, as I'm sure you've all seen opinion after opinion about the latest bit of news here in the city. The shutting down of unmoderated chat, or the "ghettos", due to a few problem abusers. Well, although you all may have an opinion, I have a column in which to express mine and I intend to do so.
The condemnation of the ghettos here in the city is something that I disagree with completely. Now, I am a ghetto rat, and have been for years, but that isn't why I disagree with our present situation. It is my opinion that a few people shouldn't be able to ruin something for the remainder of the population, that one or two individuals should not have the amount of influence to bring down decisive action upon the unruly masses as a whole, simply because this is a great way to breed dissent.
RavenBlack made his decision and who knows? This may prove to be the final kick in the pants for some of those individuals to stop making complete and total asses out of themselves every time they step into the taverns. The past few months have seen drastic changes in the rules surrounding our taverns, this latest rule seems a bit too drastic of a change for my blood pints.
All of that said, I'm sure there are people who wouldn't care if the taverns in this city as a whole were condemned and an act of prohibition were to befall our fair city. Although prohibition breeds organized crime, we already have that. I'm not sure what their activity is at the moment, but for all we know...these clans around town are all banding together in order to cause an uprising and overthrow the system, or something. Ha, kidding. Don't kill me! Back on track now. If an act of prohibition were to befall our fair city, there are still other venues of communication and socialization that any and all vampires with half a brain and the ability to look could find and thus, access. That said, if some pires wish to fore go the taverns for a cleaner social environment, that is their choice, just as it is our choice to enter the dens of dishevelment and debauchery all the same.
What I'm trying to say here people, is that everything that an individual does is a choice and each of those choices have consequences. You break a rule, you get punished. You smash a vial of HW onto someone, someone gets you back times ten. But if the ability to make a choice is taken away from us, are we no better than the humans from which we feed? We are the elite, the everlasting, the immortals, and yet...we act in such a similar manner to the very thing which sustains us that I oftentimes find it uncanny in semblance.
Now, onto my next topic of society. How many of us have wondered how exactly it is that we're able to walk around during the human day and not be burned by the sun? Who knows? Perhaps our city is cast into eternal darkness, or perhaps it is something else? Either way, we are in a city where it is possible for us to stay awake, about, and active for as long as we like. This is the same for humans. Once, when wandering the city I came upon the COVE building and found a human there with a can of spraypaint. He was making some vain attempt at graffiti, and when he saw me, ran like the frightened deer he was. This is a nuisance. These humans are guests in our city, living here until we deem them ripe enough to have their necks torn open. You'd think they'd be grateful for the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of our buildings, of our skies, of our city without defacing it with their annoying little symbols. I have now made it a policy to feed off of any human I find "tagging" a building here, and trust me here, there are a lot of them.
Finally. Let us all move onto the topic of the human election. For those of us American in origin, the election is a huge ordeal. Now, I don't understand why these people insist on electing someone to hold power over them. I guess it is because they fear being a leader and that most of them would prefer to follow blindly. Just another reason I find the humans to be pathetic. Another note on this topic. The humans of the world have allowed their respective economies to intertwine so much that the failure of one economy would be catastrophic to the rest of the world. This topic may be controversial, but that is the reason I brought it up. I challenge the rest of you to discuss this. Give your opinion and defend it. Thanks for reading!
