Dear Dr. Fang:
i am a really slow learner and slow at getting powers. I have been trying really hard. I guess im just slow at everything all around. And my clan leaders keep yelling at me and telling me to go faster. I don't know what to do, I can't help but going slow.
The slowest vamp on earth
Dear Sloooooooooow:
Are your clan leaders offering any suggestions to you, in order to help you speed up in getting your powers? Hopefully they are doing more than just yelling at you. In either case, I suggest that you might consider a few things.
Why are you interested in being in a clan?
Is this clan a good match for you? Perhaps you need a different one, or no clan at all, if your pace does not suit your leaders’ needs.
If this is a case where the leaders just yell at you, and offer no help, are you comfortable with that?
Have you asked for help? If so, has any been given? If yes, then, perhaps you do need to work on speeding up.
Do you have a sire that’s willing to help you out as well? This one, though, you have to be careful with. Many clans want a distinct line between clan and bloodline. Check with your leaders first.
Readers?
Sincerely,
Dr. Nash Fang

If you can’t learn to do it well, learn to enjoy doing it badly.

If all the clan leaders do is yell and tell you to go faster, then why are you still there?

If all the clan leaders do is yell and tell you to go faster, then why are you still there? Must have something to do with the slowness.

If all the clan leaders do is yell and tell you to go faster, then why are you still there? Must have something to do with the slowness. That one had me laugh! Two questions need answering. - Are you working as hard as you can (though at your own pace) ? - Is your slowness an issue endangering your stay in the clan ? If the answer to both questions is yes then I tend to think that the clan you are in is not suited to you. Do your best, and if you end up having to leave the clan, then you won't have any regrets. If the answer to the first question is yes, and the answer to the second question is no, then accept that you are slow and that your leaders want you to give the best you have, so they'll keep pushing you, to make sure you're not getting lazy on top of your being slow. I, as a teacher, would do the same. If the answer to the first question is no, and the answer to the second question is yes, then the situation you are in is a form of choice on your part. You are in a demanding clan with demanding leaders, and they won't accept your giving out less that the most you can. I find it perfectly understandable. You are faced with a choice : work as hard as you can (and that put you into the first situation described above) or leave, in which case it won't be your leaders dismissing you from the clan, but actually you making what it takes to be moved out... If the answer to the first question is no, and the answer to the second question also is no, then you are just a lazy slow vampire. How much time your clan leaders will keep up with that is their choice. Some clans are more demanding than others, some vampires are more active than others. The other points of interest have already been spoken about.

I have an additional question to add: Are they giving you suggestions for how to gain powers as speedily as possible? If not, come see me privately. I'd be happy to clog this up with precisely the order I power my thralls up by, but that'd just be messy. For that matter, anyone curious about how I do that and accomplish it so quickly, come see me and we'll compare notes.

I think I'll do just that, Kat. Doesn't hurt to see if I can learn anything new.
Good luck to Slow Learner, too. Any leader worth their salt doesn't just yell. But, if you are truly lazy and lagging, they won't put up with it forever, either.

Yeah, but you've been around so long that I doubt I've got any new tricks I can teach you.

I can tell you right now that Lord Galamushi would bend over backwards to help you get powered up as long as you are willing to heed his advice and put forth an honest effort. But alas, Mushi is not so interested in being a mentor. However, if you're nice, he might be willing to share a few of his tricks to get powered up.
Love him or hate him, he knows how to get the job done.
