When I refer to God, I do not mean the large man who looks over humans from the sky. No, I refer to what many of us believe to be our own God, RavenBlack himself.
I have heard multiple people, all close friends of mine, refer to him in a holy way. I often find myself wondering why. Why is that we look to a single vampire as our god? Personally, I do not view him as such. Yes, I acknowledge that I exist as what I am today because of him, and yes, I realize just how powerful a vampire he is. But when it comes right down to it, that's all he is - a vampire. Albeit an extremely, extremely powerful one, but a vampire nonetheless.
Can he not be targeted and attacked by beings in this city? Does he not drink of the same substance as we do? RavenBlack is not a god. He is a vampire, pure and simple. This, however, begs the question - Then why is he as powerful as he is?
The answer, I believe, is simpler than what most would consider. He is one of two things - Either a direct childe of Lillith, or a child of Cain. These beings, who have not been seen or heard from in some time, were as gods amongst insects. If RavenBlack was born from one of them, it is all too easy to see why he is as he is. And with neither Cain nor Lillith around to either support nor deny this theory, it is also all too easy to see how he could claim himself God.
Would one of us not do the same in this position? Imagine being as powerful as he, but still born to a parent... A parent who is now long gone. We could shape the world to our liking, and even create our own wonderous monsters. Would one of us not then tell these monsters that we are God?
Case in point: RavenBlack is not God, and we should not view him as such. It would be foolish of us to worship this man. I mean, what's next? Do we start setting up churches in his name?
For the love of all that is unholy, I hope this city comes to its senses.

To most RB is a god like figure due to the fact that with a flick of the wrist he can wipe your ass right off the map of RavenBlack City and make you pay a high bounty if he see's fit to allow you back into the city........case in point there.. the city is named after him.

I don't see RavenBlack as God. Period. But, he's not a man, either. He's a vampire and he owns the city, including your ass.

As I said before, I more than acknowledge his power. The comment about attacking him was my bad, if I was mistaken.
However, being able to wipe one off the map doesn't make you a god. It just makes you an extremely powerful being. I apologize for offending the two of you, but I was simply trying to start a constructive debate, not open myself up for insults.
From now on, I'd like if those of you with nothing constructive to say would please refrain from replying to my soapbox. While I can not enforce this request, it would be greatly appreciated. When I write here, it is only to bring up matters of the mind and discuss things like intelligent, mature beings.

I do apologize if you thought my input was not constructive...I however thought it was an honest reply to a typical issue that has been brought up before and my input was what was on my mind. I don't really see RB as a God.. but Kat's right... he owns the city and all our asses. As you said you cannot enforce your request to keep this soapbox all to yourself. ;D And I am discussing this in a mature yet peaceful manner.

To that, I must disagree. No being owns me, no matter how powerful they may be. If he see fits to remove me from this city for this, then so be it. However, I have never met the man, and until I do so, my view of him will be apathetic. Should I ever meet him, and should he earn my respect if that moment comes, then yes, I may acknowledge him further, perhaps even bow down to him. Until then, I am my own being. And I seriously doubt the big man gives a flying fuck about what I say or do.

After doing some digging, I discovered that the CoB launched a war against RavenBlack himself. Two clans defended him, but the CoB managed to knock him down to 15K blood. Guess he's just a man, after all.

Well, I think most of the controversy comes from everyone's understanding of "god".
What is a god? To me, it is some being that doesn't care about you as long as you don't annoy him or go too much against whatever his laws are, that probably change along with "god" humor, and that can kill you (or worse) with barely a move, and without you being able to do anything against it but whine.
As a vampire, I don't believe in any of the human's "gods" though I find it somewhat practical when my preys get on their knees and mumble things instead of yelling and whining. If they believe this might earn them something later, fine by me. As a vampire, I have come to realise that Ravenblack has the same attributes, so to me it is logical to call him a god, although I have no wish to revere or adore him in any ways. Good thing is he doesn't expect such from me...

No, he is not a full fledged god. Demi-god perhaps. An individual with something extra but still bound by similar rules as his 'creations'. And yes, 'god' was attacked once in city history-causing him to choose layers of pink as the result (NOTE: for anyone out there who wants to shout I got this wrong, I apologize-but this is how I best remember it. k?) thanks to efforts of the CoB. Being immune from attacks does not make one a god, especially if the 'powers' he uses to be so safe are available to the rest of us for a price. What god-like powers he does have sometimes slip into 'selective omnipotence' at times. Legend has it he can tell you in who's pocket you had your hand months ago, but if you dare move once after being attacked wrongfully-he draws a blank. He can strip you of all you have and cast you into a abyss with a wave of his hand, yet restore you for a price. For a god, his motivations and preferred 'tributes' seem to be more monetary and mundane-rather than inspiring ones. So if we are to consider him a god, it is a flawed one and not truly perfect. He suffers from the same shortcomings and desires as the rest of us do. Put your money in the bowl for RB. Thats it-keep it coming.

But pretty dead on besides that, sir.

That's true... There's always that underlying sarcasm in my mind when I think about this "god" with those human/vampiric failings such as ego and greediness ;-)
Moirai, I do believe you. I'd not, but I'd smile and laugh at your doing it. I so like the idea of this god fleeing before you! And I do think you'd be the one.

I can assure BD he would not be the only one. But I believe it to be a moot point. RB most likely will never drop his cloak, nor his pink panties.
I once saw him as a god of the city. My illusions have been lifted when I saw his foibles for what they are. Basic human greed, and apathy. If it is proved that he is a god somehow, he will be proved to be a flawed one.
He is not a god. He is no better than we are. He just has vastly more amounts of power than we do. That doesn't make him a god, simply stronger. He shouldn't be revered, but reviled.
((OOC: The value he gave to the power of Neutrality in his coding is "Pansy". I find that quite humorous.))
