I'm scared to see the second movie because I really don't want it be as bad as the first one. >.< But, I thought the books were alright. I couldn't put down the first one hardly ever but my interest began to decrease around the the third one.

I’m a mixed bag where this is concerned.
She’s written a whole series and in that series are characters that millions of people have connected to, with lives, loves and emotions that readers have related to. It takes talent to write, it takes talent to write well, it takes even more talent to speak to readers and make them ‘FEEL’.
While I’m not entirely convinced I’m going to enjoy the series, I’m willing to give it an honest literary shot to see what’s happening with it.
But to say she’s a shit writer just because you dislike what she’s written, hows she’s written it and the content only means you don’t like the work, not that her talent is deficient.
She’s done something right and she’s followed her dream to create these characters. I know too many authors, struggling, published, successful and dirt poor to immediately disregard her series or her characters.
They just might not be for me. If the movie is anything to go by, I’m sure they’re not. But I won’t discount her talent because she’s certainly got one up on me in respect of being published, completing the series and having the thing made into a movie.
Yes, say you don’t like the books. Because hell, it’s reasonable that some people won’t. But it’s not fair to say she doesn’t have talent, because she obviously does. You just don’t happen to like what her talent has produced. It’s like Pollock. I don’t understand that shit either. I can paint splatter a freaking canvas. WTF. It doesn’t mean he wasn’t an awesome artist. It just means I wouldn’t spend a hill of beans buying his splatter art. Especially not the amounts they want for the stuff.
Same scenario here. I’m going to take the time to see if there is merit to the written work that will inspire me to watch more of the movie. And giving it a fair shot to be something more than a gratuitous teenage chick lit flick.
We’ll see.

If you want a good book to read go for Brent Weeks. But it’s not for the faint hearted and even I admit he doesn’t tie up all his strings as neatly as I would like and he rushes it a little (admittedly I’m pretty hard to please when it comes to tempo and plot) but maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, the rape and pillage aside he’s seriously talented at world building and developing his characters. .
He’s got good chops. With age he’s going to blow the socks off.

I read all of them because my daughter wanted to read them and I wanted to make sure they'd be okay. The last book, I think it was, was the worst. It could have been so much better written. Over all I can see why, especially, the tween, young teen set like them. There's 'danger' and romance all wrapped into a nice not too graphic story. *shrugs* Not my normal cup of tea but not as horrendous as others would make it out to be. I've read far worse.
And am probably READING far worse right now. But then again, I'll read ANYTHING because I like reading in general.

If Arni and I compiled all the writings we've done between Nephriel and Jair, we would probably have somewhere close to 300 pages. We've counted before, and it was over 200. But, it just wouldn't flow into a book. You know? Also, people here might write amazingly, but do they really have the patience to sit and write a book series with a plot that will sell well, and something that flows easily enough for someone to want to just sit and read until they're finished? Claire, it's a moot point. Drop it. This is a free speech forum, IC and OOC, with some rules. Speaking about how being an amazing writer does not make you cut out to be a novelist is not against those rules, nor was it a moot point. Until a moderator tells me when I am being out of line, or I decide for myself, I will keep speaking my mind. You are not my boss, Jason, and if you do not like reading about Stephenie Meyer, then you can choose not to read the tread. Wolf, I totally agree. I don't have the patience to sit down and write four books that not only flow well, but have a twist that appeals to young readers of our day and doesn't follow the mainstream myths. Kudos to Stephenie.

I just have to say that I.. don't really like Twilight. Mostly because I don't like the way vampyrism is portrayed in media. <.< Be it book, movie, TV. Whatever.
That being said, I don't HATE Twilight and Stephenie Meyers. I mean the series is popular for a reason, yezzz? Maybe it's not your cuppa tea, but no need to slam the writer for it. It takes a lot of time and effort to compiled a single book, let alone an entire three four. I can respect that. Word. >.>

Others: The books suck You: You can't say that because you can't write better Others: Yes we can, let it go You: I won't stop telling you what you can or can't say until a moderator tells me what I can or can't say Me: movies suck, books suck, Edward sucks, Bella sucks, Meyer sucks, everything Twilight sucks except possibly that sparkly Edward dildo that you can make cold to simulate a walking corpse's hard-on, solely because it's pulling hundreds of potential necrophiles out of the woodwork and leading them to the inevitable horrendous realization that they need help, in hopes that my profession starts hiring again. Also, every time someone reads a Twilight book, Jim Butcher slips a little more toward alcoholism and Brian Sanderson dies a little inside.
