When it comes to free hosting, I'd say it's better safe than sorry, really. It just takes a proboard chap who doesn't know the difference between IC and OOC (or not even, just give them a bad day) to take these symbols the wrong way. But then, I've seen some crazy things cause board deletions in the past. S'why I tend encourage people to find a friend who pays for hosting and host their stuff there. Less red tape. Frequently the only restriction one has there is child pornography (sensibly, gah), and certainly no one sort of breathing down your neck.

I honestly don't care if he uses it, now knowing it's not meant in the way most people would take it. But yeah, I kinda understand how it would be offensive to certain folks... so, grey area. Where I live, if someone saw you sporting a swastika, you'd be shunned by your entire family/community... big time. But this is just an online forum for a RP game, so I really don't see the harm.

The harm is that it's a public site. If someone stumbled upon this forum and had no idea what we're doing and then saw 'racist' symbol coupled with bits about drinking blood, desecration of bodies, and killing people.... well, proboards might get some complaints if said person is crazy religious or sensitive.

You mean there's something wrong with killing people, drinking their blood, desecrating their bodies, and placing non-Christian symbols everywhere?

Buddhism is pretty big in Malaysia and I see the red swastika in a lot of public places (e.g. coffee shops) and although I've learned to ignore it, it still makes me uncomfortable. I understand vaguely what it represents (skimmed through Wiki for a bit but didn't delve into it) but to me, it's not the symbolic representation of it that gets me, but the horrible reminder of what Hitler and the Nazis did that affected millions of people all over the world.
Hope that made sense, at least. >.>

You mean there's something wrong with killing people, drinking their blood, desecrating their bodies, and placing non-Christian symbols everywhere? This is exactly what I'm thinking. The violence and outright murder that vampires commit on a daily basis definitely falls under the "illegal activity" that the TOS describe. But we're not PROMOTING IT, we're telling this big communal story where all of the characters murder and one or two happen to be racist. I don't think that's too hard for non-RPers to understand. We're not condoning it, it's just part of an unfolding story. Saying that we can't discuss/exhibit those symbols in any form is like ordering us not to discuss the Holocaust as a historical event.

...and honestly? how are the arms? Are the clockwise or counter. Hmm? I can't really tell from your lil symbol there, especially since the German Nazi's used the symbol both ways. Flag was right arms though, and that seems to match your lil sign. So, it's interesting to what in the world the point IS, and what the connotation infers. it soley seems as if you're trying to make some point ooc, yet using it under the veil of an IC stance, so OOC? Yeah it completely offends me. IC - yeah it completely offends rel, as although she's immortal and turned, I've always acknowledged her Jewish roots. If I were a first time player and came her and saw that and didn't know you? You better be damned sure I'd report it... Good to know though, thanks....I'll just put this in my lil box of another reason not to have anything to do with you

While I understand rel-human's point of view, I have to agree with Matt here.

I can understand many of the points being made here, and I say hey, good for you for breaking down boundaries for RolePlay. But does that mean one must flaunt said racism with the words beneath the images? It should come out in the RP with a ferocity, but on the forums it should be with subtle undertones...right? I'm sorry, but a couple of the things I read under these avatars really make me uncomfortable. And I'm the last person that should be a hypocrite about -not- saying racist remarks even if I'm not racist. Edit: Cuz I just saw the clan advert. Yeah...not doin it for me. There is a fine line between having a racist vampire and actually forming a clan solely for racist vampires. Creating that clan just kinda went above and beyond necessary for the RolePlay, IMO.

Well, not to be overly technical but I don't think "Jew" is a race. So, personally I don't see the swastika as racist, even if you were using the Jew hatred meaning behind it, but I believe Nazi swastika's face a different direction than the good natured ones used in tons of places around the world today.

Zach, I do not care what people were doing in the seventeen and eighteen hundreds. That is absolutely uncalled for.
