Well, when I start talking about ghosting and so on, it usually ends up with a pitcher or bucket of water thrown at me by my butler (the maid wouldn't dare).
That usually gets me very efficiently out of my dreams/nightmares and into a growling hungry mood...
I believe it would also work were I to be zeroed... Well, I think I'd order the butler to type for me then... but I am still quite a few HWs away from there.

It was a generalisation about newer generations as a whole. Of course there are the good exceptions here and there; my younger childers being part of the aforementioned exceptions.
However, it cannot be denied that in actuality, torpor is being taken more lightly than it was a few years ago. The only ones that didn't acknowledge torpor back then -if memory serves- were the splinters, and for that reason they weren't even allowed in some establishments of this forsaken city, because of their VERY different beliefs, than the rest of us.
I cannot yet comprehend how come when some are drained of ALL their blood, they can still talk and parade around as if they hadn't just hit the closest to DEAD state in their unlife. Regardless of the -reasons- the action remains the same: You went down.
Could be the holywaters lacking quality... hmm

*nods vehemently* Perhaps the potency has gone down. Hell, if I see a stinky burned flesh pyre who's spouting off in what could only be described as a sputtering slow speech blather, cause honestly - how lucid could you possibly be with no blood - then I either ignore them, try to teach them...although that hardly helps, or entertain myself with the inane reasoning of the claim. Hell - if you don't torpor, at least own the fact that you look like crap and act accordingly. Sheesh! But then, don't expect to rise up without getting pummeled again. You may think you're fine, but I've seen you, I've smelled your burned flesh, or I've read the complex thoughts that you're trying to impress upon the city yet are failing miserably to achieve cause half of your head is healing.

I was recently zeroed twice in a matter of days. I choose not to take torpor. Why? Because I don't want to, simple as that.
My human didn't bring me to this city so he could take two week breaks everytime I pissed some nut off, he brought me here to escape the real world, and pretend to be me.
Torpor, in my unholy opinion, is a pointless, and overall stupid code. Zeroing in of itself is punishment enough, what with having to take time to build your blood back up (or gather coins to necro it up.) If I don't want to stay out of the city for two weeks after I've been "killed" then why should I be forced too?
From a purely logical standpoint, there is the simple fact that vampires do not die. We regenerate, any wounds given in battle are gone (most often) in minutes or hours. Sure, we can be knocked out cold for a good few hours, but to be sent into a black nothingness for two whole weeks? The idea is absurd. It's simply people trying to maintain a status quo, and make sure that the zeroed vamp understands what just happened.
((Modified to KEEP IC. Rping is an OOC term.))

No wonder you were zeroed twice and no one respected the weak state you were in. You are the prime example of what I was referring to.
Torpor doesn't mean you are totally inactive. Rather, it is a period to get stronger, to build oneself up, and to take a breath of fresh air -figuratively speaking- from the city. A break, if you will. Personally, after going down in a well fought war, I could not imagine going on about without my deserved rest.
And what is this human you speak of? That's just weird.

Actually, I asked for and allowed the second zeroing. Mandolin had been working for weeks to kill me, and some Ent stole the kill. I respectfully went to Mandolin, and told her that no matter what, it was her kill. We agreed that she could zero for a second time, and claim the kill properly.
Personally, I don't think torpor is useful at all. If one chooses to take it, that's their choice. But don't force it on someone else just because you believe in it. (I'm going to ignore the obvious opening to make a religious reference here.) I don't want, nor need, a "breath of fresh air." I get stronger by sucking it up, and moving on.
But that's just me, and I understand, and even respect, the fact that others like to rest after a zeroing. I, however, do not. People with this same belief shouldn't be persecuted by the city. The only person who can force a true torpor is the mighty Ravenblack himself. So unless he comes to me and says, "Hey, take a vacation," then I won't do so.

Interesting. I find that 'second kill' somewhat pointless now that you have explained it, but hey, if it made her feel better, more power to the situation
As for the rest of your dribble, that is your personal opinion, we got that. Just as I stated mine. I am in no way trying to instill my thoughts on you, childe, believe what you want. I have better things to waste my time on.

No, I completely understand. I was simply presenting an opposing viewpoint, in the hopes that we could have an intelligent debate on the matter.
If you're not willing to have your beliefs questioned, or if you can't make the arguements to back them up, then by all means, talk down to me all you want. Whatever makes you feel better.

Beliefs? Oy vey! Liander? First you talk about a human that’s controlling you and secondly you’re creating inane arguments that don’t in the context of any real concept of time can actually occur.
Thank you. Thank you for letting me know that for some reason you, as a vampyre, have a multiple personality in which you believe you are controlled by a lessor creature...food, in fact...which dictates the way you life your unlife. Good eve to you crazy man...get help, join our city, and perhaps I shall speak to you again.

Of course I would be up for having an intelligent debate, if you had presented yourself as a worthy opponent. You said, and I quote, "But don't force it on someone else just because you believe in it." I simply clarified that aspect. And the rest of what you typed isn't even material of debate. rel said it best, you make no sense whatsoever. And... good luck to you and your human problem?

Yeah, I agree with the above two. Oh, and cold water does wonders for the ghosting thing.
