It’s an affliction that I hear vampires complain about daily, yet there seems to be no true cure.
Boredom.
We have been blessed—or cursed, depending on how you look at it—with eternity. It is a given that we have all the time in the world to laze about, become gluttons of blood, or procrastinate till our undead hearts are content. We indulge in the forsaken and the pleasures it provides, yet we are not sated in that alone.
I consistently hear of those trying to do something to change this particular predicament, and for a while, it works. But eventually, we fall back into this listless state. How then, are we to enjoy eternity if we’re constantly and consistently dropped into this disenchanted state? I recognize that this is why many fall into a permanent torpor of sorts where they remain lost in shadows until the night comes where they decide to rise again. We have heard of this throughout the history of vampirekind.
But for me, and several like me, we are not ready to sleep. Where does the excitement lie?

Because there is nothing new in the city. There are no tyrants to flock to, or to revolt against. There are no more unknowns, as there have been in the past. Clan wars have been done before, and done to death in many cases. The annual punch up between The Inner Circle and the House of Heorot has taken place, and they've packed up until next year when one will attack the other 'For Sparta!' or for some other equally ridiculous reason. The age of the bloodline is coming to an end. In short, people do not care as much as they once did.
We have passed from one age of hazy memories and never to be forgotten deeds, into an age which has been dominated thus far by fledgling vampires who neither care about the history of our city, or lived it for themselves. They trudge the long trudge from the ghettos to the suburbs, and they think themselves god's gift to the city. And then these same barely sentient apes decided that they want to join a clan.
And that, dear readers, is how to make a TygerNight.
Whilst he is, perhaps, the most proclaimed and easily called to memory example of what I am describing, there are others out there, idling by in secret. In past times, this did not happen. Those socially involved in the city were thankful for that chance, and cherished it. I remember, in fact, the first time I met EvilBill, shortly before he led his Church to war against the Kingdom of Heorot, I bowed to him, and addressed him as 'Sir'. How many times has that kind of respect been shown to those of equal and greater standing to his in the last year or so?
You say that the city is stagnating, wallowing in the throws of apathy and boredom. And I agree, I say that it is. But I also say that it will only stay this way if we do nothing to stop it. I remember a time when clans were more than just warbands looking for the next scuffle. I remember the times when the city, despite its differences, as a whole was a fairly tightly knit community, hell, even a democracy.
There is nothing stopping a return, whilst not to these times, times like them. The only thing in our way... is ourselves.

Hey now, I started off in the ghettos and eventually sired under someone with at least half a brain (though some will argue that) and managed to become fully powered. I'm not claiming to be an all-powerful demigod or anything, but I have put forth some decent effort to learn the history of this city--when it's offered. I find it odd to compare myself to you, but in the aspect of cherishing the social involvement I was offered, well, I do. Meeting you in battle and falling at your hands has been one of the highlights of my unlife, thus far. Now, I don't have an all-encompassing resolution to this problem, but, I do propose a hunt. *smiles* Please see the classified section of this paper for more information. theravenblackbite.proboards83.com/index.cgi?board=advert&action=display&thread=805&page=1

And not everyone can be held within the confines of my fairly bleak outlook. There are always going to be a few people which break the mold. The exceptions which prove the rule, if you will. And as for your little suggestion, it interests me considerably.

Well, something has to be done, and short of finding someone random to holy water without the approval of my family, I figured this would be the best way to go. I'm glad you approve.

When in doubt, attack Archangel. No-one will complain.

pfft sure people will, you forget there are those who are now his allies. They may raise and defend him >> course may be a few days before he realizes he's been hit.

But see, my husband would, actually. He'd complain that I left him out of it. And still, I do think Seyda would be a bit miffed as well. So all in all, attacking humans and mutilating them to my heart's content is a good alternative.

If you're bored a lot, do what I do and attend to the human?

Bored? Can't say that I am cursed with that affliction. Between the clan, the family, and finding time to be with my wife, I am plenty busy.

*laughs* Yeah, I was about to say I'm far from bored... My unlife is quite entertaining enough to keep me going for a fair while.
Methinks something must be missing in the unlives of those complaining of ennui. *arches eyebrow and shrugs* Can't say I care about another's lack of motivation since mine is well enough as it is

I know the languid feeling of indifference, but lately, I've been thrown all kinds of funny angles on the city. I have been quite... engaged, so to speak. ( I like the Feast idea. I think more role playing, and story telling would do the game good. It's just tricky, for me, to find that particular motivation. The writer's itch, I guess you'd call it. )
