Seyda, you make a very good point. But, I think what he may or may not be referring to in a broader sense is that many vampires feel the need to "consult" with their clans, families, ect., before entering a fight or duel. Now, that being said, I understand the fact that vampires don't want to drag their families or clans into battles that don't involve them. But if you look at it from another view, it does seem like a lot of vampires use their clans and families as a shield, protection or an excuse not to fight. That is pathetic to me. A vampire will talk shit about or to another vampire, but refuses to take action, saying things like, "If I weren't clanned..." or "I don't think my family would be to happy about that." or my favorite, "Just wait until my family/clan gets wind of this!" and so on. Empty threats, tired excuses, same old shit every day. No, I don't think we should all be jumping at eachother's throats at every insult uttered, but I do think there should be a certain amount of independence that every vampire is entitled to, regardless of whether or not they are clanned or in a family. Why is it that we have to drag 50 others with us when we find ourselves in conflict? I'd just like to see more vampires fight their own battles, and that's all I have to say about that. Except for the fact that he didn't say this, you just did. You are entitled to your opinion. However, if you want the ability to just pop off with mouth and weapons any time you choose, then do not join a clan or a regulated family. You trade 'independence' when you decide to join one of these entities. It is the way it's always been. So why complain when the choice is there ever present: sacrifice total independence to be part of something greater than yourself, or sacrifice great support for total independence?

*bows* I agree with much that's been said before. There are those treading the slow, sure, steady, boring and working way to respect and whatever glory people are after, and there are those driving the highway to hell, the shiny, easy, shortlived and downwards way to glory and fame. There are those complaining that respect is never given enough to them, but who never give any, save when forced to. There are those who respect people, even when not respected, until they actually are respected. There are the pampered vampires, hiding behing their clan, family or friends, to not bear the consequences of their acts or words, and mouth off to pretty much anyone, without caring about the shame and shit they bring on their clan, family and friends. There are those who just stand for what they are, say and do. Clanned or not, they won't change the way they are, but they'll force their tempers to cool off, because they have responsibilities towards their clan, family or friends. We are no beasts, going at each other's throat over petty things, or jus because we can. We are no grass plains to be walked and stampeded on. We are vampires. There's a balance and a place to find in between all of the above. I just like to think that I am nowhere close to where Scythian lies with regard to the above. And it's usually the pampered vampires who think they can show up on a public paper, spout a few words, and expect the city to suck their dick. Those vampires don't realize the amount of work done by those that are "held up and respected" by the masses, because it's usually happened before they've even gotten here. And the irony of it is, the ones that truly deserve to be in the position of being held up don't even like it. The ones that lick it up like a two dollar whore who hasn't eaten in a week are the ones that are just holding out their hands.

Touche.

You trade 'independence' when you decide to join one of these entities. It is the way it's always been. So why complain when the choice is there ever present: sacrifice total independence to be part of something greater than yourself, or sacrifice great support for total independence? Well the thing is... If vampires give up their independence when joining a clan... Shouldn't they refrain from threatening others? I can't count how many times I've seen clanned vampires spewing idle threats. All I'm saying is, it's kind of a joke when certain vampires make threats they can't hold up to without the help of their clan/family. I never said I didn't understand the concept of a clan. I'm not the one mouthing off or trying to start a fight here. I just stated my opinion, and brought up the point that indeed, there are certain cocky vampires out there who think just because they are in a clan or just because they are in a well-known bloodline, that they can threaten anyone they want. But when it comes down to the actual fighting, they will quickly hide behind their family or their clan. Those types of vampires have no respect in my eyes. It is a gutless tactic to threaten someone with your own devices, then bring in a parade of clan members or family when things get too rough. Or, as I said before, use those things as an excuse not to fight after instigating it in the first place. If a vampire is not allowed to fight due to the rules of their clan, then in turn I don't believe they should be making threats they can't hold to. A vampire's clan or their family should not need to be brought along for every fight or duel that the individual instigates.

And again, you're free to express your opinion, but that wasn't the point HE was making. That was my entire point.

But let's be perfectly honest here. How many clans have you come kissing ass in order to attempt entry and were denied? Rather than getting angry and insulting everyone that comes down the pike, perhaps you should take a small peek at yourself. The city is not void of wisdom; it's just smart enough to not trust you. Kissed ass? None. I went to the leaders of a few clans who I thought were worth my time and applied the good old fashion way. I was turned away. Or to say it more honestly I was blackballed by chickenshit bureaucrats because of either personal disputes or whatever. I'd never done a thing to seem like I couldn't be trusted before that time. I liked to handel my own shit. I still do. And I chose to look at that as a strength. But, four years ago when I was sitting having the exact same feelings as you, I didn't run around the city with my fishing rod in an attempt to sway the Court of Public Opinion. I got off my ass and I BUILT my vision. Me either. Fuck public opnion. I get up here and speak on my soapbox to reach those with simular beliefs to me. You would be suprised to see how unalone I am. And Seyda.. what do you know of what I have or have not built? What can you possable know of what I do behind closed doors? Just because my work has not been brought to the attention of you and your cronies on the hill does not mean I am just a idle mouthpeice. And that, Sir, is what will forever separate vampires like you from a "tired old giant" like me. I've broken myself to get what I have now. What do you have to show for your efforts other than empty words that fall into the darkness, never to be heard from again? We'll see eachother out there one day. Rest assured.

People of Ravenblack have you noticed? Why do so many of these ivory tower false vampires who come to tell you how worthless and unimportiant my words are all wear the same flag?
Many mouths spouting off the same message from the same base. In uniform. This is all following a very particular pattern.

And it's usually the pampered vampires who think... I will listen and respond with inteligence to anything of substance you have to say, but when I see total bullshit I will call it out as such. There is nothing 'pampered' about me princess. There is nothing in this whole fucking city I have that I didn't put in my work for. I did my dirt. I put my work in. Nothing has ever been handed to me. Nothing about me is pampered.

Many mouths spouting off the same message from the same base. In uniform. This is all following a very particular pattern. If the notice that, then they'll also notice your 'message' is as tired and tried as any other in this city. It's just a different day. So that would make you uniform. Following a pattern. The same. You would do well to remember that. ~HiS~

I do wonder what, if anything, will be the outcome of all this. An entertaining bit of reading, if nothing else.

I already brought it, bitch. I brought it, set it down on the table and opened it, bitch. Edit(add on): Look, you people can point and laugh all you want. You can cast all the judgments on me that you want. You can snarl and threaten and belittle or even drain my blood. None of it matters to me. Why is this? Because I do not fear them. I don't fear their words. I don't fear their warriors. Even if they did decide to 'put me in my place' and drained me to zero it would be nothing more than a slight inconvenience. This is because I am a mother fucking vampire. I'm a God Damned immortial. And I have all the time in the world to build my own power. All the time in the world. In the mean time, you go tend to your castles in the sand.
