Amen to that >.> I mean I'd rather the death be written about than not at all.

Well I'm not wild about the what I consider the "vampires are starfish" mentality that eyes, ears, tongues, etc. grow back but lots of people roleplay that as occurring in this game. I think it stretches reality beyond belief. But more importantly, it means physical actions have no permanent repercussions and I think that makes for less quality story writing in the long run. Characters never get battle scars or limp or suffer lastingly for their efforts. In some ways then, they never grow and become more interesting.
When you take it upon yourself to be the aggressor and cut off body parts without permission you run the risk of having someone do the same to you. You cannot turn around and complain when that has been your own modus operandi. I would not have responded to Coquette's OOC remark in the obit had I not felt that Tej's hypocrisy was so glaring that it needed to revealed.
I also have to say I don't agree with the idea that, "I killed you, I can do whatever to you," or "you're dead so it doesn't matter and you shouldn't care." I think those ideas are one-sided and non-collaborative. If role playing is an exchange of writing then those philosophies are disrespectful to the other person's ability to write their character. They sometimes cause the other person to assert your action never occurred (which is obviously an OCC assertion) and then IC turns OOC simply because someone failed to act in a manner that took in account his or her writing partner. Because, when it comes down to it, that death dance is a writing exercise between two people and if one makes selfish assertions of superiority, then it can ruin the outcome.
Several others have said (more succinctly than I): it comes down to communication. Despite my personal philosophy, if two people agree to mutilation then let them write it out and sort out how the bits get regenerated. I may wince but it's your story. But if you are known, as several players are in this game, as someone who does "godmod" then don't cry foul if and when others do it to you. You have no moral standing for such assertions.
I'm not sure we will ever come to a consensus on this topic but at the very least people should be personally consistent and accountable.

I just want to point out the paradox that is the sentence "I don't know that I'm opposed to Coquette being harmed if she were killed" I was tired. Shhh.

I'm cool with it as long as I'm involved in the story. I don't think it's being over sensitive to want to be able to help write my own character's story. That's silly.

Nothing wrong with writing a 'kill' IF the other player is informed and up to speed, and the body of the fallen hasn't already been claimed on the behalf of a loved one. Difficult to take trophies or otherwise if someone else already has the body. Then again, that goes back to the other player being involved. If all parties are informed and on the same page, I don't see why a story can't be made out of a zeroing.
On a personal note, I'd like to bring up one of my favourite RPs in that realm. Post zeroing, Jauk took Mia's body stuffed it in a car and shoved it over the edge of a rocky based cliff. (Or so my loose memory says.) That I thought was absolutely hysterical. ;D
Also, the whole growing back thing I think is up to the player. For me, Lyric has the ability to regenerate to an extent, but not everything grows back. Example; She was in the ghettos chatting with Daly and he took her eyes with a sharpened number two pencil. The eyes didn't grow back. Uriah had to find a human and steal her eyes to put them in Lyric's empty sockets. It was a lot of fun for me. <.<

hahahah Jauk was notorious in doing shit to your character, and what was brilliantly fun was taking what she stated and have to bring it back to the realm of reality and deal with the given circumstances. I remember once she tried to take me and TrulyKath in these sacks into some small boat and I turned it on her that she was haven't a horrible night terror filled dream. If you're open to the prospect that you can play within the realm of rp and you're communicating with the writer of the other character, there's really nothing that you can't accomplish. Much more fun than just reading an obit any day...

He'd been searching around the city for beautiful eyes for Lyric. And he found them but unfortunately he had to get a blonde girl named Melanie drunk and seduce her into getting into the car with him. And then when he took her eyes out, he kicked her out of his car and drove off. >.> Oh, she was still alive. No worries. <.<

That, dear sir, IS badass! HA! That would rule! In fact I do recall an rp of someone being blind for a bit because of eyes being taken...who the hell was it...good story too. damn my memory... Chances are that yes, it was Mushi after Mando took his eyes. Sam was originally opposed to the idea of having his eyes taken because he saw it as godmodding. After a little bit he saw the logic of the kill shot RP and eventually accepted and RP'd it. So yeah, kill shot RP is good. Most players understand this. The ones that take part in those RP's and turn around to complain when they get zeroed and don't like what happens are the ones I have an issue with. I know full well that if Mando ever gets zeroed, there's a pretty good chance someone she doesn't like will be in the zeroing party and take advantage of that situation. Now while I hope they'd be as respectful of a fallen warrior as Mando is when she takes the eyes, I can't count on anything. To complain about a negative event at Mando's zeroing would be highly hypocritical though. Obviously, I have a problem with tejas complaining about her ears being taken. If she can RP taking tongues, someone can RP taking her ears.

See here's the other thing...I consider it a terribly celebratory event to have another writer care so much about your character that they want to RP the kill, ya know? What an honor! To see inventiveness to the extend that they 'know' your characters traits and personalities. Rel, while drugged, was inked. As much as she likes the art of tattoos, she would never get one. It was a huge thing to deal with that violation, but omg what a great story. It was one act, and I was able to react in kind.
Hell, actually reading those killshot rps helped for me, as a player, to get to know some of the other players in clans during wars. Before we had online papers and the like, sometimes the only way to know who was playing was by their work when they posted. People became friends over reading each others work. In fact, there was LESS bitching and crossing because there was a real sense of me the player vs rel the character, ya know?
MORE KILL RPS!

Nothing wrong with writing a 'kill' IF the other player is informed and up to speed If this were souly a RP forum you'd be right. But it is based on a game with stats and weapons and numbers that can be lowered to 0. Let me rephrase. "Nothing wrong with writing a kill if you make the kill." You're characters aren't an idealized mirrior image of yourself. they're fictionial characters who are subject to the whims of other characters. This is what makes an MMORPG fun. If you never want your character to be embarrassed, go buy a play station and play a game where you go back to a 'checkpoint' when anything bad happens. otherwise, accept it.

I'd just like to point out something that some may have forgotten or that got glossed over. The characters of two other players [Phoenixxe and gmanusrex] cut out Lesion's tongue, they then gave it to tejas as a trophy. There was a lot of backlash by Lesion's player and some others of 'How could they'. Some players actually RP'd getting it back and sewing it back in place for him, others ignored it. At least that's what I remember of the roleplay bit and the Out of Character reaction.
-------
I think from reading this over, the majority are wanting more roleplaying and player interactions that aren't drama-filled. The game has a lot of great writers, plenty of fun reading their stuff.
Maybe we'll go back to the writing and being friendly OOC?
Please excuse any not making sense, it does tend to happen sometimes.

As the topic at hand was writing an RP kill based on a zero your character 'handed out', I wrote my response based on that. My intention was aimed at folk who take a 'kill shot' and write a story to accompany it. If you had difficulty making that connection, I apologise.

I'm not reading all of that shit but I AM putting in my own opinion. I wouldn't be opposed to Jair being zero'd AND further tortured/interacted with in any way, as LONG as the other player of the offending character had my permission and involved me. I was pretty pissed when Toki broke Kaelani's scissors after she was zero'd, simply for the fact that I was not asked for permission, and would I have been, I would have given it. Also - it's godMODING. One d.

Godmoding (sometimes spelled as "godmodding") is a term used in role-playing games to describe two behaviours of players. The term comes from the "god mode" found in many video games, allowing a player to activate features such as invincibility, unlimited ammunition or lives, or similar power boosts. Godmoding is almost always frowned upon by other members of the game, because it is regarded as a form of cheating against the game's tacit rules.
As per the Wiki-God.

Look, I have been to page, after page, after page of White Wolf, Anne Rice, RBRP, Other Vampire theory pages, and the only thing I can see is NO-one agrees. However as MANY of the Rper’s in RBC use White Wolf or VtM as cannon I found this link for some to look at… they say Yes you can grow back something that has been severed! forums.white-wolf.com/cs/forums/p/4647/97446.aspxSome say no… each world has set rules and since RB has no set rules… I guess if you are going to play here, you will have to suck it up and deal with the altercations… I as an Ancient Player “Mina” is 7 going on 8 years playing, have been taught that if you are warring; the person taking the “kill shot” has rights to the body. When Kaio went on his cross bringer kick, many people came to Mina, to beg for mercy from him… Mina! I did not hear this BS of you can’t desecrate the body… blah, blah, blah… Even the Lomax’s accepted the cross if Kaio decided and Mina could not sway his mind. I have heard of cutting out tongues, pulling out fangs, dragging bodies behind horses along the city streets, and then when the families get the body back it was sent home to heal… yes heal… no one but the player behind the character or God (RB) can deliver “final death” no one… so screw the god moding, power playing... meta playing whining… If your character is at 0 pints of blood you are in torpor and can not stop who ever and what ever from happening. That is why we set up who gets the body.
